Korea was a victory in the sense that N. Korea was essentially forced back into it’s original, pre-invasion borders. It was a defeat in the sense that N. Korea was not crushed for invading the South in the first place. It was a harbinger of the failure of imagination of world leaders that N/S Korea existed in the first place since both sides of the 20th century’s great ideological divide – communist vs. non-communist – insisted that whole countries be divided so that each side of that divide could have their own country. Korea is the only country that remains divided by those ideological positions.
