I think you are wrong on #3. RR’s study was widely questioned from the getgo. But they refused for a long time to reveal the coding that was eventually found to contain the error, and certainly did not appear to recheck their work after the initial criticisms. They assented to all the assertions of the conservative right, and repeatedly warned that the United States was in a danger zone. They could have avoided all of this, and they chose not to avoid it.
