It’s worth the wait until October 2014 for the biennial Festival of Slowfood, or Salone del Gusto, in the beautiful Piedmont city of Turin. You will find more than 3,000 artisan food producers, offering wine and food tasting, as well as various workshops. We booked one, which was run by a small pig breeder who produced various hams, salami etc and talked us through the process – with a simultaneous translation – as well as delicious samples and accompanying wines.
