But for me, the sacrifice came in the form of a social life that rarely matched that of my friends. While I don’t regret meeting my partner at university, I do regret the fact that, during the course of our relationship we effectively alienated some of our closest, mutual friends: friendships that, sadly, didn't survive third year.
