The market seems to get bigger each year, extending along Grand’Place to Place Ste-Catherine, covering almost 2km. The stalls are like little wooden-roofed huts that mainly sell crafts, art, food and drink. By the time you reach Place Ste-Catherine and the quays beyond, not only are you decently warmed up, but you’re at the heart of the festivities. The stalls continue, punctuated every now and again by a 35m-long toboggan slope, a big wheel illuminated by 18,000 lights, and a large skating rink. Truly amazing: a proper winter wonderland.
