The arguments that A-Rod should not have been eligible to play while he appealed his suspension in August and September had some merit, though that too simply followed the rules bargained by the league and the MLBPA. His presence had an impact on the postseason picture, and if it was ultimately proven that he was guilty, the teams he was facing weren't going to be able to un-do any damage his bat inflicted.
