Such a flux would be continuous unless the heat conductivity of the oceans changed (which there is no reason to believe), so that doesn’t explain the discontinuous pattern of world temperatures that have actually been observed. They’re grasping at straws to save their scientific reputations. It’s unfortunate because the increase in CO2 is not a matter of debate and is a potential problem in and of itself. CO2 combined with water to produce carbonic acid. This will cause world-wide aquatic acidification. How serious I don’t know, but it clearly needs to be considered for it’s own merit.
